Philips Hue smart bulbs have a rare discount during this Best Buy sale

The Philips Hue A19 Smart LED Starter Kit with three smart bulbs.

Smart lighting is one of the best entrances into the world of greater smart home automations. Individual bulbs, light strands, and lamps give users the ability to adjust brightness, colors, and even some lighting animations from an easy-to-use mobile app. In many cases, you’ll even be able to use Alexa and Google Assistant to control your gear. And when it comes to Philips Hue deals, these are the types of lighting promos you want to pay close attention to!

Right now, Best Buy is offering a killer sale on some Philips Hue hardware, and we’ve got leads on two of the best promotions: One is for the Philips Hue A19 60W White and Color Ambiance 3-Pack ($80), and the other is for the Philips Hue A19 60W Starter Kit ($115).

These three Philips Hue A19 60W bulbs are some of our favorite smart light bulbs. At up to 800 lumens, these color-changing indoor bulbs are easy to set up and a breeze to customize. Right out of the box, you’ll be able to control these bulbs using the Hue app over Bluetooth. If you find that you’d like to add more Hue lighting products down the line, investing in a Philips Hue Bridge will let you switch over to Wi-Fi controls.

Even without the expanded controls though, this Hue 3-Pack does a terrific job at enhancing the illumination in one or a few rooms of your home.

One of the best gateways into a full-fledged Hue system is this awesome A19 60W starter kit. Out of the box, you’ll get three color-changing bulbs, a smart light switch, and the aforementioned Philips Hue Bridge. When connected to your router, the Bridge lets you control and customize up to 50 different Hue products. You’ll also be able to control your system using Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple HomeKit, and Samsung SmartThings.

It’s hard to say just how long this promotion is going to last. That being said, if you’ve been looking for a solid deal on smart lights, we can’t think of a better promo to take advantage of. Purchase the Philips Hue A19 60W White and Color Ambiance 3-Pack for $80, and the Philips Hue A19 60W Starter Kit for $115 when you buy through Best Buy.

When it comes to smart home tech, one of the top brands that comes to mind for smart lighting is Philips Hue. Designed for plug-and-play connectivity, Philips Hue devices are easy to set up and a breeze to control. And if you’re operating a Hue Bridge, you’ll be able to control up to 50 different Hue products! Philips Hue deals can be a little hard to come by, which is why we’ve chosen to highlight this great Best Buy offer. Right now, when you purchase the Philips Hue A19 White and Color Ambiance (3-Pack), you’ll only pay $80. At full price, this model sells for $135.

Why you should buy the Philips Hue A19 White and Color Ambiance (3-Pack)
While investing in a Hue Bridge will unlock the full capabilities of your Philips Hue system, this A19 White and Color Ambiance (3-Pack) can be controlled over Bluetooth, too. Do keep in mind this introduces range and device limitations, though, so going Wi-Fi might be a top consideration regardless. Not to mention, you’ll be able to control your Hue system remotely (Bluetooth relies on a host device to be nearby).

Smarten up your holiday scene with the Govee Icicle Lights
The Govee Icicle Lights.

Keen to make your home this holiday season look fantastic? If you’re aiming for a National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation style appearance but want it smarter, you need more than just the Philips Hue deals going on. Right now, you can buy the Govee Icicle Lights set for just $90 at Best Buy so you’re saving $50 off the regular price of $140. They make the outside of your home look gorgeous while being super practical. Here’s all you need to know before you buy.

Why you should buy the Govee Icicle Lights
I love Govee products. Since buying the Govee Lyra Smart Floor Lamp, I’ve been consistently impressed by how well its products work while being very keenly priced. It’s a different kind of technology than the best cheap smart light bulbs but it’s perfect for stringing together some lights around your home or room. The only downside is the company's app isn't as stylish as the Hue one but you get all the same benefits for a much better price.

Linkind A19 E26 color smart bulbs matter support -- smart bulb deal

I know some people think that a lot of smart home tech is frivolous, and some of it is, I'll agree, but there are certain things that make daily life a little better. For example, I have security cameras, a video doorbell, smart lights, a smart garage door, and all of these things make living in my home convenient. With my lights, for example, I can create on-off schedules and I don't have to get up to use them. After a long day, that's a welcome feature, believe me. It's especially helpful with Christmas lights and decorative lights -- like the ones I have set up to automatically turn on at sunset on my patio.

With a smart video doorbell, I can answer my door, converse with parcel delivery teams, and shoo off solicitors -- we get a lot of them where I live. But among all of those experiences and devices, one of my biggest qualms is with the apps you use to interact with this tech.
