VN - Ren'Py - Completed - Monster College [v1.2.3] [Monster Eye Games]

Monster College is a visual novel with multiple choices, with an extremely well-made and entertaining story. I admit that I was disappointed when I got to the end and that doesn't happen with many games of this type. The graphics are good, the animations are sufficient, the choices are quite limited and the paths are few, but this does not particularly affect the gameplay. Being one of the best products of its kind, I can only give it the highest score. Well done.

Great game. Liked almost everything about this. Ending is quite sudden and , well, I was left with one thought on my mind "I want more, please" (at least for now, cause dev working on endings at the moment if I understood correctly).
Overall I really enjoyed this game very fucking much. Loved characters, dialogs, renders. It was highly enjoyable experience and I hope to see more of this. Want to wish dev luck and say thank you.

Bad point: sex scenes not good, li models rendering with ligjht and env makes them feeel plastic, not memorable dialogues, the first few chs renders are very off putting.

Overall an okay game which tries something new. BUt it isnot for me.

This game is fun and engaging all the way until the end then the dev loses the storyline writing a seriously piss poor ending. If you are going to write a story thee ending is just as important as the beginning and middle so you need work on that before starting another game. If you are writing multiple endings then all endings must work for the storyline the player has chosen.

Most of this game is fantastic, I only have one little peeve: Dean Sharp. She's fine as an administrator, generally speaking—she's clearly capable of solving problems; fixing the school's magic stone problem? brilliant—but she covers shit up, lies to her students about everything (even things that have to do with them and their interpersonal relationships), and is the cause of nearly everything wrong going on in that school.

Most of the college students dislike each other to varying degrees—honestly, several of the other characters in the game would not be disappointed if other students died or disappeared—because of the shit she knows and refuses to resolve... not that it's her job to actually be the adult in the room, heaven forbid she actually keep her students from (spoiler alert) killing each other. I'm pretty sure Nina and Maxine are the only two that are actually friendly with one another. Oh, and Emily gets along with everyone... but she's a ghost, so they don't feel threatened by her presence.

Of course, when our protagonist goes in and unravels all the bullshit, because he wants his friends and/or paramours to get along, he gets the blame for it all as if she didn't cause this by leaving the mess in the first place. Common sense, Sharp: You sweep enough shit under the rug, people are going to start noticing the lumps.

Just wanted to get that off my chest, she got progressively more annoying as the game went on and she slowly revealed herself to be less of a college dean and more of a Machiavellian version of the Wizard of Oz.

Aside from irritating administrators, everything else was great about this game. Graphics, music, sfx, most of the other elements of the story, nothing really to ping this for so I'll give it five stars. Just so long as you don't put a lot of stock in Sharp's praise of your MC and his family early on—since it won't last—you won't be too disappointed.

During some hot sex with his girlfriend, the main character suddenly goes through some drastic physical changes and runs away. He transforms into a werewolf and his father sends him off to a special monster college. Here, you get access to other monster girl lovers such as a vampire, gorgon, zombie, ghost, and werewolf. The story revolves around the mystery of powerful magical artifact being stolen and the main character awakening to his true powers. The game wasn't designed to be a harem game and it was added haphazardly in the late game. The problem with this is that I choose the harem option but my ending was not a harem ending and it forced me to be with a girl I completed rejected instead of any of the girls I chose to be in my harem. The final chapters definitely feel rushed and the endings were lame.

Great story involving supernatural creatures in a university style enviorment. Competent writing and greatly written LIs, each a different type of creature. One of my favorite vn on the site, and it’s completed. Highly recommend

Definitely worth a try

Cool idea for a story and pretty LIs in the screenshots so I thought I'd give it a try. Didn't realize at first but all but two or three LIs are of the massive mammary variety, this dev has a type. I was lured in by the few who aren't but without them I wouldn't have bothered, this game barely avoids the Huge Boob Only (imaginary) tag.

I didn't make it through the whole story though. The writing needs a native speaking proofreader badly, but beyond that, there are plot holes that you could drive the retired Space Shuttle Launch Vehicle through. The one that broke the camels back for me was the ancient vampire not recognizing a werewolf pretending to be a vampire.

And what baffles me about this particular incident is that the dev correctly portrays vampires with incisors for fangs and werewolves with canines for fangs. A lot of fantasy media gets it wrong in one way or another for one or both, but this game does it right. Great attention to detail, right? Then please tell my why this centuries old vampire lord doesn't notice his daughter's boyfriend has canine fangs??? It could have been dealt with by asking the witch for a glamour spell or something before they went to her parents castle. Simple one line of text to cover that particular plot hole, but no, its just left wide open letting the cold air in.

The dialogue and MC's train of thought is consistently cringey and often doesn't make sense. I only lasted for about 1 update after the original girlfriend shows up to further complicate matters, but the plot was in tatters already anyway. I hear that there's an unavoidable LI death and a rushed ending to look forward to if I were to finish it.

This is a good game with funny dialogue, an interesting plot, and each love interest (LI) having her own lore and "sidequest." However, the issues with dialogue consistency and pacing really dragged the experience down for me. And as for the ending—well, it’s downright awful.

The Good:
The game starts off really strong. It has great pacing, proper introductions, and genuinely funny dialogue that makes you feel invested, i actually wrote down "delightfull" so i could remember for the review.

The Problems:

1. Romance:
   The romance is poorly paced and lacks proper buildup. Scenes jump from flirtation to sex to inviting the LI into a harem with little to no progression in between. For example, the first kiss happens well past the mid-point of the game (not counting the intro).
   While each LI has deep lore and a unique "sidequest," there are no meaningful or pleasant moments with them. You don’t get downtime scenes like sharing a lunch, chatting after class, or going on a picnic. If you talk to an LI either to advances a quest, to flirt(if you haven’t slept with her yet), or to fuck. It feels rushed and emotionally hollow.
2. Inconsistencies:
   The dialogue often lacks realism or coherence. I understand that in VNs like this, developers sometimes create conflicts by having characters act irrationally, but the execution here is frustrating.
   
   For instance, an adult college student being told he can’t check out a book wouldn’t start screaming at the librarian.
   
   A crying girl who claims she hates a boy and never wants to see him again shouldn’t suddenly ask for forgiveness the very next day and ask to join his harem.
   
   These inconsistencies break immersion and make me want to quit playing.
   
   
3. The Ending:
   The ending is a widely acknowledged letdown, and I couldn’t agree more. To borrow the words of @eonfow:

   It’s hard to believe such an ending was written for a harem game. It feels like a slap in the face after everything you’ve gone through to build relationships with the characters.

Completed the game today, story is good enjoyable to say the least
dialog was funny i hurted my stomach sometimes by laughing haha.
characters are diverse and hot for me especially Emily (non-ghost) and Nina of course. for the sex scenes are average though animations could be better but i'm fine with that.

This is a 3-star game in every way, but I'm giving it 4 stars because of the author's ability to constantly keep updating the game and having a fun premise for the game.

That being said, the MC is kind of just a moron the whole way through, which would be fine, if he wasn't a gray stu I could do everything character. Why is he the one investigating these issues when his IQ probably doesn't touch 90?

The models, character design, and love interests are great! The dialogue is a little rough but, I can assume English is not the dev's first language.

To sum up, it's a 5 star effort from the Dev, which in my opinion is the most important thing, having consistent updates keeps players interested in the story, obviously some people thought the ending was rushed, but it probably meant the dev wants to move on to a new project and I look forward to it!

I was very excited to see the game got an update but when I saw the "Completed" tag, I got a very bad feeling because the story is still developing when I played it last year.
Yup, the game got axed. Please don't play this game because you will have a down hill experience.

tldr: the ending sucks

for me a good story has to be at least decent at its lowest while other parts being good would redeem the low points but in this game the ending (in my opinion) is so bad that i just don't see why someone should go through this whole thing just to get disappointed at the end. no one should want a repeat of what happened with game of thrones

the beginning is not bad but also not great, it was decent. the middle i would even say its good but as soon as the "big fight" ends its just downhill on the story

also i wish my game was bugged to have this epilogue but the dev really did write in a harem game having a LI die, another dropping out (because why not) and another wanting to get back with her ex and have a throuple. this just leaves a really bad taste

Nice variety in female cast.
I was a fan of the majority of the sex scenes.

But that was truly ruined by the poor ending.... I have deleted a few other saved games (I really liked these ones) because the ending was poor like this.

Despite the open ending that just screams for a sequel to restore aforementioned lost possibilities, a sequel is usually very unlikely to succeed, which makes me very sad.
Let's hope the production cycle of the sequel - if it happens - is just as short as of the original and there won't be a quality dip. Otherwise, there's no way to make this complete.

it's not a memorable game, the story is also interesting and the characters are fairly well characterised. the development of the relationships is not particularly satisfying (only Sofia and Dragomira are interesting from that point of view), and the endings are a bit brain-teasing to say the least.

if the developer fixes it in the next versions it could reach 4 stars, for now it's 3.

Its not how you start its how you end that matters to me and whoooo boy does this one do a kickflip headfirst into a flaming garbage can in end. 2 stars thats all I can give because at least its finished.

Great game, satisfying conversations, nice design of characters (ghosts can be better) and scenarios. Some dialogue options could be improved where 1 choice cannot end the whole relationship. Slight bugs in end game in the script, but other than this nice romantic VN.
