Damn, wanted to try this but font is broken for me on Linux, even when setting locale. Guess I'll just watch the anime...

For anyone wanting to get this working on Linux, here are my tips:

1. This game needs a 'pure' Wine prefix to run. Proton does not work, since (I think) the presence of DXVK/DirectX keeps the game from booting. It's a weird issue that no other VN I've played has. It's also counterintuitive since many VN's need those libraries to run.
2. Make sure the Japanese locale (ja_JP.utf8) is generated on your system and set the environmental variable 'LANG=ja_JP.utf8' before starting the game. This is good practice for games that use Japanese characters in their file paths but not always necessary.
3. Grab necessary fonts by using 'winetricks' to install 'corefonts' into your Wine prefix. These should be sufficient for 99% of games.

If all goes well, your game should look like the image below. Good luck to anyone trying this.

It runs on Exagear. The funny thing is, it won't run if you have DirectX installed in it. Removing them fixes the issue. But the game still crashes once in a while. I've only tried this game with Exagear 3.0.2, i might have to try different versions to test it out.
