am I crazy or has he been working on this basic dva tracer animation for like the past two years?
You're not crazy. Even barring his recent hardware failure, he's spent quite a lot of time on this animation- despite it technically only being two repeated loops. Nearly all of his previous animations are longer & more complex, with a large variety of angles & positions, and multiple climaxes (oral, vaginal, AND anal).

To be honest, I find it more infuriating that he just won't interact with his patrons more. If he would just update the community regurarly, it would be a little bit less bad. But no, he updates, like, once a month
Look man, I completely agree with you in that regard but just take a look at the vicineko thread to see how deranged, unhelpful & entitled an audience can be. I'm not saying it's the right thing to do but if/when a content creator decides to interact minimally with his main audience, I honestly can't blame them one bit.

I would do the same as TheCount & others. It's just one of those things where there's this 10% made of assholes that ruin it for the rest of us.

I mean, 100% that the audience can get comically fucking entitled to an artist. Just check out the Kokoboro thread to see how pathetic people can get with their demands, despite them being on a porn piracy thread.

Issue is Count is, kind of, providing a service that they charge for, and the absence of updates is a valid concern for the people who have been sponsoring them. You don't need to chill and chat with your fans like dezmall or lewdgazer do, but you do need to give the occasional update so they feel like they're contributing to something they'll see in time.

The absence of that, over this long, will tick people off, and unlike folk like RashNemain or Drills3d, he doesnt really have anything to show for his patrons for last year.

I get your point, but, for example, why did he didn't make an update where is hard drive got broken? He could make regular WIP updates or just an general update on what his next steps will be and so on. Imagine being a subscriber and he updates at the beginning of the month, saying that his hard drive died last month.

We, as non-paying supporters, aren't entitled to updates, but his subscribers are, more or less.

It's funny actually. Most of the "Audience" does not even Pay. And if you do. We are not talking a legally binding Contract. Just stop your sub if you feel the Creator is not delivering.
If you fell for the Save 10% if you sub for a year, well that is on you no one else.
And the most funny part. Why does everyone expect creators to be social Butterflies.

Again not a legal binding Contract. You are entitled to Zilch. Any kind of supporter Site makes that tottally clear. Hell even Kickstarter makes sure of this disclaimer
There is a reason why I rather pay more for something Done than field any kind of Subscription.

Nowadays I think it's not worth signing up for a Patreon account expecting regularity. I consider it worthwhile to pay if you really like the content creator's work a lot. Otherwise, I think using Ko-fi is a better option. You pay when you want or as much as you want.
And I don’t know if it’s the case of TheCount, but shit happens in real life.

One thing I've noticed with more frequency is artists will pump out a bunch of work, get the subs and then go silent for months on end (but not suspend payment) and then months later come up with a "real life shit" update.

Don't get me wrong, I get animators have lives and shit does happen, but I'm seeing it really often in the last couple of months that just seems to be more than a coincidence.

That's why it's better to wait until there a few you want, sub, grab and cancel - repeat as needed. Unless the artist is a dick and do monthly releases only for a particular month and then restrict/delete the content the next month.

Even better is to just lurk around here and wait for a "hero" to give away free stuff.
